Rental terms
Valid from 15 October 2026
1. General
These terms apply to equipment rentals between Byteway (the lessor) and the customer (the renter), whether booked on our rental page, by email or as otherwise agreed.
By making a booking the renter confirms having read and accepted these terms. Contact: store@byteway.fi.
2. Booking and confirmation
A booking is made by choosing the equipment and rental period in the booking calendar. The booking is binding once the renter has received the booking confirmation by email. A booking paid by card is confirmed once the payment has been approved.
Rentals starting at least 72 hours from now can be booked online. Rentals starting sooner are agreed by message to store@byteway.fi and are valid only once confirmed by the lessor.
3. Prices and payment
The rent is the daily rate of the equipment multiplied by the number of rental days. Both the start and the end date count as rental days. Prices include VAT.
The rent can be paid by card online when booking or in cash at pick-up or delivery. Rent paid in cash must be paid in full before the equipment is handed over.
4. Pick-up, delivery and return
The renter can pick up and return the equipment themselves. Pick-up and return times are agreed with the renter after booking.
We deliver and collect the equipment within 50 km of Tampere for a fixed fee per booking. Delivery and pick-up times are agreed separately. The renter or their representative must be present to receive and hand back the equipment.
The equipment must be returned by the agreed time on the last rental day in the same condition and with the same accessories (e.g. cables, chargers and microphones) as handed over. Late returns are charged rent for each started extra day.
5. Use of the equipment and the renter's responsibility
The renter agrees to use the equipment with care and according to its instructions, and to protect it from rain, moisture, impacts and theft. The equipment may not be passed on to third parties without the lessor's permission.
The renter is responsible for damage to the equipment during the rental period as well as for its loss and theft, normal wear and tear excepted. The lessor may charge the renter for repair costs or, if the equipment cannot be repaired or is not returned, its replacement cost.
Damage, faults, loss and theft must be reported to the lessor without delay. Theft must be reported to the police.
6. Condition of the equipment and faults
The lessor hands over the equipment clean and in working order. The renter should inspect the equipment at hand-over and report any defects immediately.
If the equipment fails during the rental period for a reason not caused by the renter, the lessor will try to provide a replacement. If this is not possible, the rent for the unused rental days is refunded.
7. Cancellations
The renter may cancel a booking free of charge at least 72 hours before the rental period starts by notifying store@byteway.fi. Rent already paid is refunded to the original payment method.
For later cancellations 50% of the rent is refunded. The delivery fee is refunded in full if the delivery has not yet started.
The lessor may cancel a booking if the equipment is faulty or otherwise unavailable for reasons beyond the lessor's control. In that case all payments are refunded to the renter.
8. Limitation of liability
The lessor is not liable for indirect damages, such as a cancelled event or costs arising from it, unless mandatory law provides otherwise. The lessor's liability is limited to the rent paid by the renter.
9. Personal data
Personal data provided when booking is used to process the booking, deliver the equipment and communicate with the customer in accordance with our privacy policy.
10. Disputes
We aim to resolve disagreements primarily through negotiation. Consumers may also contact the Finnish consumer advisory services and refer the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board. Finnish law applies to the agreement.
